Triad, NC-- The storm made a quick change from rain to snow on Thursday night. The roads quickly turned into "snow mode".
News 2's Liz Crawford traveled to Kernersville to capture the elements of the storm.
I-40 was full of slow-moving cars. No one was doing over 40 mph. There were numerous wrecks up and down the highway in addition to broken down cars and cars stuck in snow in the shoulder.
Nearly every car on the road had their hazards on as they moved at a slow pace with the flow of traffic.
By 11pm, the big, chunky snowflakes transitioned into a wet, wintry mix.
Even. the snow on the ground was slushy and wet by midnight.
