Arden, NC (ACT) - The teleservices company, GRFS, is hiring 100 new workers for its Arden call center in the next two months, but many of those new agents will be fielding calls out of their own homes.
This is the first year that GRFS plans to hire more agents working from home than in their brick and mortar facilities, according to Call Center Director Debbie Jones.
"Until we had our online training and supervision platforms built we were limited to hiring people who could come to our premises to train and work. Now we're able to deliver the information and support they need to be successful right into their homes," she said.
Two-thirds of the company's new hires this year will go into the GRFS @Home Agent training program, Jones said.
"At a certain point, we simply run out of space here in the call center. If we want to continue to expand our business, we can either keep building bigger buildings or fully utilize the new technologies," said Jones. "We now have the tools to extend the company beyond our physical facilities."
Most of the new jobs will be targeted to applicants with recent model computersand fast Internet connections who qualify for the work-at-home program.
Founded in 1978, the company employs more than 400 agents at its Brevard Road facility. GRFS processes and ships orders for products sold on television such as Victoria Principal Skin Care
Formerly known as CPU2, the company changed its name to Guthy/Renker Fulfillment Services LLC, or simply GRFS in 2011. The name change came about with the company's affiliation with its largest client Guthy/Renker LLC, based in Palm Desert, Calif.
The staff expansion comes with a new contract to provide customer support for a computer company. "Our team outperformed the competition, and we're delighted to be bringing more jobs into the area as a result," said Walter Gross, Senior Vice President of Fulfillment Services.
In addition to the jobs in Arden, another 40 positions are being added in the company's Covington, LA operation. Nationwide, GRFS employs about 650 people.
