Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School Bus Hit, Driver Leaves Scene

Winston-Salem, NC -- Police in Winston-Salem are looking for a driver who hit a school bus with 22 students on it and left the scene.

The accident happened around 8:29 this morning on Hastings Hill Rd. and Hwy 421. According to police, a preliminary investigation indicates the school bus was traveling north on Hastings Hill Rd., crossing over US 421 approaching Gerry Dr. That's when witnesses said a male driver attempted to make a left turn from Gerry Dr. onto Hastings Hill Rd. The man lost control, his vehicle started to spin and he collided with the side of the school bus.

After hitting the bus, the driver left the scene, traveling south on Hastings Hill Rd.

The school bus had 22 East Forsyth High School students on board and two passengers on the school bus claimed injury, but refused treatment. The school bus sustained minor damage.

The vehicle is described as a late 1980s model Royal Blue Chevrolet Suburban driven by a male. Investigators said a male passenger was also seen inside the SUV. Both males were described to be in there 20s.
