Greensboro, N.C. -- A Tornado Watch has been issued for much of the Piedmont of N.C. until 2 am.

The following counties in the WFMY News 2 viewing area are included: Stokes, Rockingham, Caswell, Forsyth, Guilford, Alamance, Davidson, Randolph, Chatham, Montgomery, Moore, Lee, and Chatham.

A band of very heavy rain and strong winds will move through the Triad Wednesday evening between 9 pm and Midnight as a squall line tracks east through the Piedmont. Damaging winds will be possible within stronger storms embedded within the larger band of rain. There will be a chance of isolated tornadoes

The front is expected to move through the Triad late Wednesday evening, but scattered showers will remain possible into early Thursday morning.

The sky will then gradually clear Thursday morning as cooler and drier air begins to spill back into the Triad.
