Burlington, NC -- Emergency managers prepared for the worst for Wednesday's storms.
The Alamance County Emergency Management Director, Dave Leonard and the Burlington Emergency Management Director, Zach Smith work very closely with one another during emergency preparedness.
Their input prompted the school district to cancel all after school activities on Wednesday afternoon.
The county had extra emergency staffing and stand-by crews, including people from the local Red Cross, hospital and school personnel to in case their facilities were needed.
Zach Smith urged Burlington residents to register for Code Red, the city's emergency system that gives people weather and emergency updates through a text message, phone call, or e-mail address.
By the time the storm moved through, News 2 learned that Alamance County had several down trees and power lines however it wasn't causing any major concerns or road blockage.
At one time around 6pm on Wednesday there was 850 homes without power in Alamance County.
