Boone, NC - Firefighters rescued people from flooding in Boone after severe weather passed through much of the Southeast Wednesday.

Residents said the flooding began after dark. Cars were stranded in the sudden rising waters.

Flooding was also reported in Avery, Ashe, Caldwell, Mitchell, Buncome, Henderson, Jackson and Swain counties.
