Greensboro, NC - Guilford County Schools (GCS) Superintendent Mo Green will make his fourth "State of Our Schools" address Thursday night at the Carolina Theatre and lay out his strategic plan for the next four years.
Thursday night marks the end of the four year strategic plan Green put in place in 2009, a plan that had what Guilford County Schools calls "stretch goals," including a goal of a 90% graduation rate.
Last year, GCS saw a graduation rate of 84.5%, missing the 90% goal, but there was progress, climbing from 79% when the strategic plan was put in place in 2009.
In addition to the strategic plan, GCS is also in the midst of implementing a $30 million grant from the Dept. of Education, the largest grant in school history.
The grant will provide a tablet to every middle school student in the Guilford County School system, adding up to more than 17,000 tablets.
The State of Our Schools address is open to the public. The event kicks-off at the Carolina Theatre Thursday night with a reception at 5:30pm and program at 6:00pm.
