Raleigh, NC -- The NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT) reopened all lanes of I-77 South at mile marker 79 near Jonesville.

The lanes were shut down after a tractor-trailer hit the bridge concrete column around 9:00am Thursday morning.

NC State Highway Patrol Trooper Moxley said the driver was killed in the collision.

Moxley said the driver of the tractor trailer, James Griffith was traveling south on I-77 when he ran off the road hit a guardrail and then collided with the bridge.

Griffith died at the scene and his semi was the only vehicle involved, Moxley said.
