Charlotte, NC -- North Carolina's Social Studies Teacher of the Year award winner has a style that is all his own.
Students dance, play video games and answer trivia questions. They participate in activities that aren't found in a conventional classroom. Fifth grade teacher Justin Ashley believes this teaching style works best.
"I love using music and dance. That's what gets kids moving," said Justin.
Last year Justin was an assistant principal, but his love for the children brought him back to the classroom. Earlier this month he was honored as North Carolina's Social Studies Teacher of the Year.
"It's a beautiful feeling because I have kids that come to me everyday smiling and coming to give me a hug and telling me they appreciate me."
