High Point, NC - The High Point Police Department has released the names of the three victims in the drowning accident at a retention pond Sunday morning.
Kenny Colon Jordan, 30, and Heather Dawn Jordan, 33, died in the early morning accident.
Crews spent several hours searching for another victim Sunday. After finally draining the pond, police found the body of 12-year-old Nikki Dawn Simpkins.
The three all lived at 2723 N.C. Highway 68 in High Point.
In a 3:30pm news conference, police said that a nephew of the couple went back to their house to call in the drownings. They say most of the retention pond is only 2 feet deep but there is a part that goes deeper.
They also would not say for certain if the group was swimming at the time of the drownings.
They will conduct autopsies on the victims.
Sunday morning, Capt. Mike Kirk said the caller knew the family and was at the pond with them at the time of the accident.
Police say in the initial call, the caller, now identified as the couple's nephew, said the four people went swimming in a retention pond off Penny Road Sunday morning. The caller got out and called 911 when he couldn't find the others.
