Winston-Salem, NC -- The county medical examiner told WFMY News 2 on Wednesday there was "nothing obvious" in Josh Level's autopsy to indicate a cause of death.
The 17-year-old was a junior at the New Garden Friends School in Greensboro. He collapsed during during a basketball game at Quality Education Academy in Winston-Salem on Tuesday night, according to an NGFS spokeswoman. He died later at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Shortly after, friends took to Twitter to send their prayers to Level's family and show their support using #RIPJoshLevel.
Sports website ballislife posted a tribute video on their website.
Counselors will be on hand at the school to talk with students.
Students were notified about Level's death Tuesday. Below is text from a message sent to the school by David Tomlin, Head of NGFS.
Dear New Garden Friends School Community,
It pains us deeply to inform you of the loss tonight of one of our students.
Josh Level, a junior at NGFS, died after collapsing during a basketball game at Quality Education in Winston-Salem.
We will provide you with information as it comes available about funeral arrangements.
Tomorrow we will have Meeting for Worship in the morning, and we will have counselors on site for students, staff and faculty.
We know that you join us in conveying the deepest sorrow and most sincere condolences of the New Garden Friends School community to Josh's parents and family.
New Garden Friends School is a pre-K through 12th grade Quaker school founded in 1971.
