Greensboro, NC -- While most of the day on Friday saw just light showers and drizzle heavier rain will return to the Triad early Saturday morning.

An area of low pressure will track out of southern Alabama to the northeast Friday night and bring widespread showers to the Triad overnight. The steadier rain will arrive after midnight bringing heavy showers at times through Saturday morning.

Rainfall totals will range from a quarter of an inch to a half inch with greater accumulations likely south and east of the immediate Triad.

Temperatures Friday night will remain cold, but are not expected to drop below freezing. Lows temperatures Friday night will be around 33-35 degrees which will prevent the water on the roads from refreezing, but bridges and overpasses may still be a little slick.

The storm system will begin to move out of the Triad Saturday afternoon and promote gradual clearing into the evening. Temperatures Saturday will remain below normal, however, with highs only in the middle 40s. The normal high temperature for late February is 54 degrees.

High pressure will establish control of the the Triad's weather for the second half of the weekend and bring a much needed break from the cold and wet conditions. High temperatures Sunday will climb into the upper 50s to near 60 degrees under mostly sunny conditions.
