Burlington, NC -- Police released the name of a man hit and killed by a train Friday night in Burlington.
The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. at the Webb Avenue and Fisher Street overpass.
Police say 50-year-old Glenn Edger Plester died on the scene.
Lt. B.L. Curry says the train's conductor said Plester was sitting on the train tracks and tried to move when the conductor sounded his horn. Plester wasn't able to move before the train, carrying 182 passengers, hit him.
The overpass where the accident happened is elevated.
The Amtrak train was delayed a few hours but there was no damage to the train or any injuries on board.
