Rockingham County UMCs Given Arson Prevention Packet From Sheriff and Fire Marshal

Stokesdale, NC -- United Methodist Churches are asked to incorporate fire prevention practices after five nearby UMCs were deliberately set on fire.

There have been five cases of arson fire at five different United Methodist Churches since December; four located within roughly 10 miles of one another.

On Tuesday night, the sheriff's office and fire marshal met with leaders from nearby United Methodist Churches. They talked about threat assessment and fire/arson prevention.

WFMY News 2's Liz Crawford spoke to leaders at other United Methodist Churches. They're worried that they could be next.

Members at Stokesdale UMC have been more vigilant. They try and keep an eye on the church and ride by more often.
