Fayetteville, NC -- A Fayetteville mother has been charged with making a false report that her daughter had been abducted from school.
Authorities spent hours Thursday searching for an 8-year-old girl after 28-year-old Latasha Bethea told police her daughter had been taken from Lucille Souders Elementary school by a white female driving a white car.
Bethea was arrested Thursday night after the child was found safe at her grandmother's house. She is charged with making an unfounded report to law enforcement officers.
Authorities say Bethea knew her daughter was with the grandmother and didn't tell authorities.
Bethea was released from jail on a $500 bond. It wasn't known if she had a lawyer.
