Alamance County, NC-- A man is dead, and investigators with the NC State Highway Patrol are looking for the person who killed him.

Trooper Greg Ingram tells WFMY News 2 that around 1:48 a.m. Saturday, a man walking west along I-40/85 was hit and killed by a car. The car kept going, Ingram said.

Ingram said the man's body was found just off the interstate near NC Highway 62 in Alamance County. A truck driver saw what he thought was an accident and alerted a patrolman.

The victim was identified as 26-year-old Rodney Maurice Link of Burlington. Link's body was not far from his vehicle, which troopers found parked on the shoulder of the interstate.

Investigators said this is an especially tough case because they don't have a make, model or description of the car or driver.

Trooper Ingram said the vehicle that hit the man will have significant damage to the front.

Troopers are asking anyone who might have information to call the NC State Highway Patrol Troop D office at 336-334-5500.
