Montgomery County, NC -- Residents in northeast Montgomery County are without water after a mainline broke near Highways 220 and 73.
Emergency Management Director Corey Roberts said residents in Star and Ether have been without water since 2:45 p.m.
He says it took them several hours to find the break because the mainline is in the woods.
He says the water loss is to the Stedman Water Tower in the Starr area. He estimated 750 to 900 people are without water.
At this point, they believe the water will be turned back on by Midnight.
County officials have issued a boil-water advisory.
Roberts assured residents the county is working to get the issue resolved.
