Oak Ridge, NC -- It's been a tradition for 67 years, until this year when money and not enough time stands in the way of the Oak Ridge Horse Show. But bigger plans are on the way for the show as organizers have now found a permanent home for it and are in fundraising mode.

Sharon Smith, chairman of the Oak Ridge Horse Show said they struggled to make money after moving the Oak Ridge Horse Show from its original site to Summerfield. The move turned out to be a costly one as expenses increased.

The Oak Ridge Horse Show will return to familiar roots, but in a new location and to a permanent home on a piece of land behind Oak Ridge Military Academy.

Organizers said they had to take a break this year because there wasn't enough time to get it ready. They're now starting a fundraising campaign leaning on the community instead of using taxpayer money. They hope to have everything ready for it by next year. They believe the permanent location will allow them to make money that will in turn go back out to the community in charitable contributions as it has in years past.

You can make a donation to the Oak Ridge Horse Show by sending a check to: Oak Ridge Community Center Post Office Box 483 Oak Ridge, 27310.
