Gaston County, NC (WBTV) -- Two classic cars are destroyed and probably not much more shopping after a fire at a strip mall in Gaston County.

Fire investigators are trying to determine what started the fire. They believe it originated in an outbuilding and quickly spread to the strip mall on Old York Road in Gaston County. They're investigating it as a suspicious fire because it started around 4:00 a.m. on Thursday.

It took about 80,000 gallons of water before firefighters could stop the flames. The amount of water flooded two nearby homes.

A carpet store and hair salon was located inside the strip mall. No one was inside at the time of the fire.
