Family Trapped, Two People Dead In Bridgeport, Ohio Fire

Bridgeport, Ohio - A gray Sunday morning (03/17) in southeastern Ohio shattered as flames ripped through a city block.

Fire billowed through three buildings in Bridgeport, Ohio, shutting down a major connection from I-70 to Ohio State Route 7. Authorities say it happened at about 11 a.m. in a Main Street apartment complex.

According to the Bridgeport Fire Chief, a family of five was trapped in the fire. The parents suffered serious burns and were airlifted to a local hospital.

Several initial reports had one body being taken from the scene, with other unconfirmed reports suggesting three children died in the blaze. So far, officials have confirmed two deaths. The Belmont County coroner was called to the scene.
