Raleigh, NC -- A Montgomery County man plans on taking an island vacation after he won a $1 million prize playing the $4,000,000 Gold Bullion scratch-off game.
Benjamin Green won when he played his $20 ticket Wednesday afternoon, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery.
"When I saw the 'win' symbol I thought I had won maybe forty dollars," Green said in a statement. "When I saw it was a big winner, I started screaming. I dropped the ticket and picked it back up to see if it would change. I even turned on all the lights so I could see better. This is really going to make things easier."
Green chose to collect his prize in a $600,000 lump sum, a total of $408,006 after taxes. The Education Lottery said Green purchased his ticket at the E-Zee Gas and Convenience Store on North Main Street in Biscoe.
