Lexington, NC - Deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff's office pulled over a Texas man on I-85 S in Lexington, Tuesday, and seized $29,000 from the vehicle.
When Dennie Andy Keophimanh, 26, was pulled over for Impeding the Flow of Traffic at mile-marker 91 around 5:30 pm, an officer's K-9 detected drugs.
Deputies then searched the 2005 Dodge truck and found three bags containing 15 bundles of cash in rubber bands.
Keophimanh was the only person in the vehicle, which is registered in California. He denied ownership of the money, but did tell the officers he recently smoked marijuana in the truck with a friend.
Deputies are evaluating the confiscated money with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Keophimanh was released with a written warning.
