Brunswick County, VA -- Five people are dead after a crash involving a vehicle that was traveling the wrong way on a Virginia interstate early Tuesday morning.

Virginia State Police told CBS Station WTKR that the accident happened around 5:42 am on I-85 in Brunswick County. Officers said they received a report on a driver going the wrong way.

The caller stated that the person was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of the interstate. Before troopers were able to get in the area of the report, they said a pickup truck collided head on with another car.

Investigators told WTKR that the driver of the truck died on impact and the four people in the other car also died at the scene.

Officers did not say if alcohol or any other factors may have contributed to the cause of the accident.
