Greensboro, NC -- Listen to these statistics. 1,585 participants.
338 coaches. 28 states. We're not talking about the ACC tournament, or A&T hosting an inter-collegiate track meet.
We're talking about a swim meet, happening right here in Greensboro. The Greensboro Aquatic Center is hosting the YMCA National Swimming Championship. So that's more than 1,500 swimmers, and members of their families, and their coaches staying in hotels and eating food, in Greensboro. They're wishing the best for their kids and enjoying the city.
Leslie Barmakian, from Westfield, New Jersey said, "I love it, first off we have a beautiful day people are so friendly, the accommodations hear at the coliseum are wonderful everything is within a short drive to any eatery or anything you need."
Troy Heitmayer from Mount Vernon, Illinois said, "I love being here, we got some family that lives in the area that going to come in hopefully see my daughter swim tomorrow, were excited."
The coliseum estimates the event will have a $6.5 million economic impact on the city. Greensboro is scheduled to host the event again next year.
