Salisbury, NC-- A Rowan County man accused of a break into the home of a family attending the funeral of a 1-year-old toddler has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the incident.
The Salisbury Post reports Bobby Joe Milam pleaded guilty Thursday to ransacking the home of Nick Munn and Jessica Kepley following their son's drowning.
Milam apologized in court, saying he had a drug and alcohol problem and didn't remember the break-in or burning the toddler's personal items.
Milam was sentenced to between 20 and 42 months in prison, and was ordered to pay restitution for the burned property.
Authorities say more than $4,000 in property was taken from the home while Parker Munn's parents attended the funeral.
Parker drowned last September after apparently falling into another neighbor's decorative pond.
