White Oak, NC -- Highway Patrol is investigating an auto accident that killed a Fayetteville teenager and left two others injured on N.C. Highway 53 Friday.

William Coleman "Cole" Humphrey, 17, was driving a GMC SUV west on U.S. 53 when he ran off the left side of the road, ran into a ditch, hit a power pole and then overturned around 4 p.m.

Humphrey died at the scene.

His two passengers - Spencer Faircloth, 18, of Stedman, and Branson Hayes, 17, of Wade - were injured in the accident; their conditions were not released.

Humphrey and one of the passengers were ejected from the SUV. Troopers said none of the teenagers were wearing seat belts.

Investigators do not believe speed or alcohol were factors in the accident.

Humphrey was a student at Cape Fear High School, along with Hayes. It isn't clear whether Faircloth attends the same school.
