Triad -- Have you been missing spring? The season officially arrived on March 20. Since then, we have had a high temperature that was at least average -- only twice.
The cool streak will finally be broken this week.
High pressure is in place over the Atlantic. As a result, our wind is coming in from the south. It is pulling in a milder air mass. Highs on Sunday will be in the low 70s. That is 3 degrees above average. There will also be ample sun all day.
By Monday, highs will reach the mid 70s and upper 70s aren't out of reach by mid week. We could potentially go from well below average highs to more than 10 degrees above average this week. The 80 degree mark isn't out of reach by Thursday.
By week's end, another low pressure system will arrive. That will bring a chance of rain and thunderstorms Thursday night through Friday. Slightly cooler air will return by next weekend.
