Surry County, NC -- The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF) along with the Surry County SWAT Team helped capture a wanted fugitive.
Investigators found Brian Keith Barr, 38, at his house on Fancy Gap Road Wednesday afternoon. They said he slammed the door of his house and refused to come out as officers approached.
The JFTF requested assistance from the Surry County SWAT Team as previous reports indicated Barr was considered homicidal and suicidal. Surry County Sheriff Graham Atkinson arrived on scene and made contact with Barr who later surrendered. They arrested him around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Barr was wanted by the Surry County Sheriff's Office for Possession of a Stolen Firearm. He also had a warrant out of the State of Virginia from the Carroll County Circuit Court for a Probation Violation.
