Christianburg, VA-- Officials say two women have been shot at a community college section of a Virginia mall and a suspect is in custody.
Christianburg city spokeswoman Becky Wilburn says emergency officials received a 911 call around 2 p.m. Friday about someone with a gun at the New River Community College satellite location in the mall outside of Blacksburg. The caller reported hearing shots fired.
She says two adult women had gunshot wounds. She says one was airlifted to the hospital and the other was taken by ambulance.
CBS Roanoke affiliate WDBJ-TV reports one of the victims is at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and the other is in stable condition at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery.
"At this time we do not believe there is any continuing threat to the community at large," Christiansburg Police Chief Mark Sisson said during an afternoon news conference, WDBJ-TV reports.
Montgomery County Schools were briefly locked down as a precaution.
Officials did not provide any other information about the suspected shooter.
