Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The Chicago Cubs have placed recently anointed
closer Kyuji Fujikawa on the 15-day disabled list with a muscular strain of
his right forearm.
Fujikawa allowed three runs on three hits in a blown save against the Giants
on Friday. The right-hander is 1-0 with two saves and a 12.46 ERA in five
relief appearances this season.
It appears that former closer Carlos Marmol will continue his role as a middle
reliever. Thus, Shawn Camp and James Russell will likely get most of the save
Chicago recalled pitcher Rafael Dolis from Triple-A Iowa to fill the roster
spot. The right-hander went 2-4 with four saves and a 6.39 ERA in 34 relief
appearances for the Cubs last season.
