GPD: Home Invasion Victim Dies, Case Now Homicide

Greensboro, NC-- Police in Greensboro say a man who was assaulted on March 19 died last week from his injuries and the case is now a homicide investigation.

In a news release from the police department, investigators said they are looking for the person who shot Antwan Lenard Whitmire during a home invasion on March 19. Neighbors called 911 for help after hearing gunshots. 

Officers found Whitmire who was able to tell them an unidentified man forced his way into the apartment and shot him. Detectives said evidence collected during a search of the apartment indicated the shooting could have been drug-related.

The person suspected of shooting Whitmire is described as being in his mid 20's with brown skin, average build, 5" 9' to 5" 10' tall with close cut hair and a moustache. Police believe two other men could also be involved in the incident. The second suspect is a black male in his early 20's with long dreads. The third suspect is a black male in his late 30's, 6", heavy build, bald with no facial hair. They left the area in a black vehicle - possibly a Nissan.
