Greensboro, NC -- Tuesday, the Greensboro Fire Department will participate in a live fire training near South Holden Road and High Point Road.
The City of Greensboro is alerting community members around the area of 1925 Cedar Fork Dr. that they may see heavy smoke between 8 am and 2 pm. They said the smoke will not be hazardous to the public.
Tuesday's fire training will be the first live fire for the current group of recruits, according to Battalion Chief Dwayne Church.
"This is real life training for them," said Church. "They've learned fire behavior and how fire acts. There's nothing like getting to see a fire in real life - it's different than talking about it or reading about it in books."
Church said this group is the 64th class of recruits trained at the Greensboro Fire Department. They are scheduled to graduate July 25.
Live fire trainings use structures that meet NC DENR-Air Quality and NC Public Health regulations. This is the second live fire training in Greensboro during 2013.
