Greensboro, NC-- A woman accused of beating a Guilford County high school teacher has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the incident.

According to the Greensboro News & Record, 19-year-old Khavasia Vaughn was sentenced to between 16 months and 29 months in prison after pleading guilty Monday to misdemeanor assault on a government official and felony assault causing serious bodily injury.

As part of Vaughn's plea deal, a charge of communicating threats was dropped. Assistant District Attorney Chris Parrish said Vaughn became upset after math teacher Wole Ajala sent her out of the classroom for taking off her shoes last September and refusing to put them back on.

Parrish said Ajala lost five teeth, lost hearing in his left ear and suffered a concussion, among other injuries.
