Raleigh, NC-- You can add going to the NC Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) to your Saturday "to do" list. Wednesday, the NCDVM announced expanded hours at eight additional driver license offices.
And it begins...this weekend, May 4. The new hours are part of an effort to improve customer service and reduce wait times for drivers.
Expanded schedules will begin Saturday in South Wilmington, Jacksonville, Manteo, Ahoskie, Greensboro, Monroe, Wilkesboro and Asheville.
The new offices will be open each Saturday from 8 a.m. to Noon and, beginning on Monday, May 6, also for an additional hour on Monday to Friday afternoons, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Services offered: Most regular driver license services, including regular road tests, will be offered on Saturdays, with the exception of CDL skills tests, medical re-exams and motorcycle skills tests. Testing services at these offices will be available until 5:30 p.m. weekdays, but regular road tests will not be administered during rush hour.
According to DMV, the other three offices, located in Manteo, Ahoskie and Wilkesboro, will open the first Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to Noon and will be closed the following Wednesday afternoon from Noon to 5 p.m. They will offer the same Saturday services as the other DMV offices, but they will not open for an additional hour during the week.
