Burlington, NC - As mother's were celebrated around the country on Sunday, this year's Mother's Day for Ashley Allen and Celeste Proffit was particularly special because they both gave birth to their respective first child on Sunday at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
Ashley gave birth to a boy, Ryan, and Celeste gave birth to a girl, Halleigh, and both babies were happy and healthy and welcomed by rooms filled with family.
Ashley and Celeste spoke with News 2 about becoming a mom on Mother's Day, with Ashley saying, "I'm living life for him now. He's just everything." and Celeste saying, "It's an automatic unconditional love. You would do anything for them all of a sudden."
Both Ashley and Celeste said that, like most parents, they wanted to provide a happy home for their children, and as mothers, it made them think of their relationship with their own mother differently.
Celeste said, "The last week of my pregnancy, I started thinking to myself that every person in the world, their mother has gone through this. It gave me a new found respect for all of the mothers, including my own."
Both Dad's were also overjoyed with their new children, and left a bit in awe by the entire process.
Jesse Parsley, father of Ryan, said, "I have so much respect after seeing what Ashley went through. Mom's are superheroes, they really are."
Christopher Proffit, father of Halleigh, was equally happy, saying, "I teared up. I couldn't stop myself. It was amazing."
