Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Yankees have activated infielder
Kevin Youkilis from the 15-day disabled list and infielder Mark Teixeira from
the 60-day disabled list.
Teixeira began the season on the 15-day disabled list after suffering a
strained wrist tendon during the World Baseball Classic on March 6. He was
transferred to the 60-day disabled list earlier this month.
The 33-year-old Teixeira hit .251 with 24 homers and 84 RBI in 123 games last
Youkilis, who signed a one-year contract worth $12 million in the offseason,
was placed on the disabled list on April 30 with a lower back strain.
The 34-year-old Youkilis was hitting .266 with two home runs and seven RBI in
17 games prior to the injury.
Both Teixeira and Youkilis were in the starting lineup for Friday's game
against the Boston Red Sox.
