Surry County, NC-- A homeowner is recovering from injuries he received after someone broke into his house and assaulted him.
Deputies with the Surry County Sheriff's Office said the home invasion and assault happened Thursday night around 11:22 p.m. on NC Highway 268. According to the sheriff's department, Jereme Rasmussen forced his way into the house, pointed a gun at the two people inside and made one victim go into another room. Rasmussen then robbed the victim and assaulted him, deputies said.
Rasmussen was arrested a short time later when he was seen driving the car described by one of the victims. He was charged with First-Degree Burglary and Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.
He's in the Surry County jail with bond set at $65,000.
