Gibsonville, NC -- A man wanted in an assault case was arrested by law enforcement with the help of a police K-9 after they say he hid from officers in thick underbrush.
William Dudley Cooper was charged Wednesday with felony First Degree Burglary, misdemeanor Assault and Battery, misdemeanor Communicating Threats and misdemeanor Resist/Obstruct/Delay.
Gibsonville police said Cooper broke into a home in the 800 block of Hillcrest Avenue and assaulted a person inside. Cooper left the home after the incident and police from Gibsonville and Elon found him hiding in the underbrush, according to the police report. The police K-9 was used after he denied their commands to surrender.
Police also charged Cooper with shoplifting from a separate incident.
Cooper was taken to the Alamance County Jail and issued a $50,300 bond.
