Winston-Salem, NC -- A 4-year-old is recovering from a gunshot wound after accidentally being shot Friday afternoon.
Police in Winston-Salem were dispatched to a shooting, involving a child, around noon Friday to a house on East 15th Street. When investigating officers arrived, they found a 4-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. The child was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Officers began their investigation and learned that a 5-year-old boy was the shooter. Police were told the boy found the gun in a closet and accidentally shot it, wounding the 4-year-old.
The boy's injury isn't considered life threatening, detectives said.
