Reidsville, NC - An Eden man led law enforcement on a 32-mile chase after they say he kidnapped his girlfriend.

Joshua Kyle Moore, 22, assaulted his girlfriend before he forced her into his pickup truck early Sunday morning, according to the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office. Reidsville police responded to the area near the YMCA, where Moore dropped her off before running from law enforcement.

Police believed Moore was armed and said he made threats to harm officers. The sheriff's office was contacted when he left Reidsville city limits.

Deputies said Moore drove from Rockingham County into Caswell County, and then led the chase into Virginia before circling back into Rockingham County. Area law enforcement was involved in each location Moore passed through.

After a failed attempt to strike an officer's vehicle stationed in Ruffin, Moore ran over stop sticks, which deflated three of his tires. But that didn't stop Moore. Deputies said he continued the chase and used a maneuver to bring his truck to a stop. They had to break a window to get him out of the truck because he refused to leave, according to the sheriff's office.

While deputies took him into custody, they said Moore spat on an officer.

Moore was issued 12 separate charges, some of them with multiple counts, totaling 19 charges for the incident including Attempted First Degree Murder of LEO, Flee to Elude Arrest, Fail to Stop for Blue Lights and Siren, Malicious Conduct by Prisoner, Aggressive Driving, Driving While License Revoked, Assault on a Female, First Degree Kidnapping, Misdemeanor Larceny, Driving with no Insurance, Driving with no Registration and Driving While Impaired.

Moore was injured during the chase and was taken to Annie Penn Hospital for treatment; deputies later brought him to the Rockingham County Jail where he was issued a $104,500 secured bond.
