Two People Dead After Vehicle Crashes In Fayetteville

Fayetteville, N.C. (WRAL-TV) -- Police in Fayetteville are investigating two car wrecks involving the same Jeep Cherokee in both crashes that killed two people. It happened early Wednesday morning on Shaw Mill Road in Fayetteville.

According to WRAL-TV, investigators said Shayla Cole, from Fayetteville was behind the wheel of the Jeep. They said she crossed the center line near Rosehill Road hitting a car in the westbound lane but soon after she hit another car as her jeep landed on top of the other vehicle.

Investigators said Cole was dead at the scene but Marcel Roman Gist who was a passenger in another car died at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. The driver of that car, Kennard Ruffin was in critical condition at last check at UNC Hospitals. Another passenger in Ruffin's car, David Dixon was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police have not released any information about the cause of the wrecks.
