Greensboro, NC -- Wednesday WFMY News 2 partnered with the International Civil Rights Center & Museum to host a Juneteenth Telethon.
At this time, the ICRCM says $80,000 from yesterday's telethon and project that number could reach as much as $100,000.
WFMY News 2 broadcasted from the telethon all day hosted by current on-air personalities Tracey McCain, Eric Chilton, Julie Luck and Frank Mickens. Also present were WFMY veteran anchors Sandra Hughes and Lee Kinard.
Celebrity appearances were made by Rev. Jesse Jackson, Fantasia Barrino and Franklin McCain of the A&T Four.
Funds from the telethon will go towards a new educational initiative called Building A Better America. The goal is to bring 112,000 social studies students from across the state to ICRCM's 16-gallery experience, The Battlegrounds.
