To keep roads safe, truckers will spend less time in their rigs come July 1.

The government hopes restricting hours will force truckers to take more down time and reduce crashes related to driver fatigue.

Starting in July, the government will start cutting the number of hours truckers can drive from 82 hours to 70 hours over a seven-day week.

They're also stressing rest breaks.  A driver will be required to take 30 minute break for every 8 hours behind the wheel.
