Triad -- The Bermuda High pressure system is settling in over the Atlantic. That will make for a string of warm and muggy days for the Piedmont.
The high will pull our wind out of the south, and that will usher in more warmth and humidity. Temperatures will creep up a degree or so each day from now through the end of the week. Today's high will be around 85. There is a 40-percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Every day for the rest of the week will be much the same. The high will block any other systems from moving through. That includes any cold fronts which could otherwise come through and give us some relief from the heat.
Afternoon summer time thunderstorms are also in the forecast. Most days will begin dry. As the day heats up and becomes more unstable, the thunderstorm chance goes up. The most likely time frame will be the afternoon to evening period. After the sun goes down, the rain chances go down.
