Greensboro, NC --  If you have an outdoor storage shed, police in Greensboro have a warning for you. Your shed could be next on the list for burglars.

Investigators say between June 15 and June 18, they've had 11 reports of break-ins. The reports came from neighborhoods off Freeman Mill Road between I-40 and High Point Road.

Just this past weekend, police said six residential sheds in the area of Meadowood Street off Wendover Avenue were broken into. The break-ins have been reported citywide, police warn.

Lawn equipment is the main item reported stolen from victims who filed reports. According to a news release, home owners said the break-ins happened between 8 p.m. and 9 a.m.

Police tips on reducing thefts of your lawn equipment:

  • Placeall lawn equipment in locked sheds or garages.
  • Secure outdoor sheds and garages with heavy duty locks.
  • Install motion detector lights.
  • Post signs that the property is monitored by an alarm company.

Police said they haven't made any arrests in the crimes and, they are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 336-373-100, or by texting 274637 (CRIMES) with the keyword badboyz. Calls and texts are anonymous and confidential.
