Asheboro, NC-- Law enforcement agencies are now having to be in a lot of places at once and depending on the crime, they have to spend hours on the scene.
To help with that, most agencies have mobile command centers which are sheriff or police stations on wheels. And thanks to illegal drug activity, a Triad sheriff's office has a brand new one.
Monday night, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office thanked the county commissioners for allowing them to purchase a brand new state-of-the-art mobile command center. The 45 foot unit cost about a half-million dollars, but taxpayers didn't foot that bill.
Sheriff Maynard Reid tells WFMY News 2, it was paid for with money seized during drug busts or investigations.
