Greensboro, NC -- The City of Greensboro says grease is responsible for clogging a 10-inch sewer main that discharged about 3,500 gallons of untreated sewer water, Monday.
The untreated water flowed from the main for about two hours in the 1600 block of Random Drive, according to the city. A Jet/Vac was used to clear the grease.
City workers said wastewater went into South Buffalo Creek, which is a tributary of the Cape Fear River basin. They opened several fire hydrants to flush the creek and spread lime over surface areas affected by the untreated sewer water.
