Washington-- The hardest working congressman in politics is back at work after being release from the hospital for Hernia surgery.
U.S. Rep. Howard Coble was back on the House floor Thursday voting. Doctors discharged the 82-year-old legislator early Thursday morning and he went right to work, Rep. Coble's Chief of Staff Ed McDonald said.
Congressman Coble underwent hernia surgery on Tuesday at George Washington University Hospital after he complained of severe stomach pains.
Congressman Coble is expected to return home to North Carolina tonight with a staffer who drives home every other weekend.
The House is not in session either tomorrow or next Monday. Rep. Coble expects to return to Capitol Hill next Tuesday for the last week of the House before the August district work period.
Coble is longest-serving Republican in NC history.
