RALEIGH, N.C. - An inmate on death row for a crime committed in Greensboro died Wednesday from natural causes.
The North Carolina Department of Public Safety announced Thursday that James Donald King, inmate number 0226428, died at Central Prison Hospital.
King was convicted of First-Degree Murder for fatally shooting Gloria Underwood King - his second wife - in September 1988. He was put on death row in November 1988.
The N.C. DPS says there are 151 N.C. inmates currently on death row.
