3 Charged In Pepper Spray, Purse Snatching Incident

Thomasville, NC-- Police in Thomasville said they may have solved a crime against an elderly woman that happened earlier this week.

Officers alleged that on Monday, July 29, Jennifer Bennett, 29, and Shelley Sessom, 31, robbed a 79 year-old woman of her purse, after one them sprayed her in the face with pepper spray. Both are charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. The incident happened at the Southgate shopping center in Thomasville.

Additionally, a warrant was served on William Thomas Welch, 45 of Reidsville for Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. Detectives didn't say exactly how Welch was involved in the crime.

According to Thomasville Police, Officers in High Point Police had already arrested Bennett and Sessoms on unrelated warrants from the Davidson County Sheriffs Office.

Friday, Detectives with the Sheriff's Office alerted Thomasville Detectives that Bennett and Sessoms could be connected to the robbery of the elderly woman from Monday.
